In order to conform to the “establishment”, I am including a beliefs page. I have often stated that “statements of faith” are a dime a dozen – what a person posts as their faith or belief system is often times contradictory to what they say and practice. I could copy and paste from several, but the writer in me screams “non-conformist” and I am not real fond of the “pre-formed” selections, so here goes
The basic foundation of one’s faith must come from God – the Almighty I AM of the Bible, not Allah or Buddha or Krishna or anyone of a million gods over the eons of time in history. The Almighty I AM has revealed Himself to us in His written Word, preserved for thousands of years as an infallible, Holy Spirit inspired testimony, just as He promised He would.
If one does not have the infallible Word of God to trust in, then their foundation will crumble and fall, as I have witnessed many times. Perhaps this is why the Bible is attacked, twisted, re-written and reinterpreted to reflect theological bias so that God can be placed into a square fenced in parameter of man’s making.
How do we know if the Bible we hold in our hands is God’s written Word? We can find through research that God left a trail to follow. The OT has not been messed with due to the consistency of the Aleppo and ben Chayyim manuscripts which compare quite nicely with each other, but the NT has undergone considerable attack, and no wonder, for it proclaims the Gospel of Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh – guess who hates that whole idea? Briefly as possible, this is my perspective based on what I have read and studied:
The NT comes in two different sets of manuscripts [Greek]. One set is corrupt, called the Alexandrian or Egyptian manuscripts [mss]. There were only three of them found in the trash and buried in the desert. None of the three agree – there are vast differences and compared with the other set of mss, mess with the theology of the Gospel. The other set is called the Byzantine or Textus Receptus [received text] of which there were over 5,000 copies – all of which pretty much agree – word differences and grammatical stuff that does not disturb the theology. My question would be: What set would you trust – 3 witnesses or 5,000+?
The KJB [King Jame Bible or KJV] is based on the Byzantine/TR set of mss. Even today, with all the scholarly testing, the KJB comes up shinning and exemplary. There are critics who disagree of course. Textual controversy will be the constant enemy of God’s Word. To clarify, I am not a KJV “onlyist”, but I do believe it is the best we have today. To qualify, when King James of England appointed that a Bible for the people be translated, he commissioned a large number of scholars to do so. There has never been, to this day, a group of such high credentialed translators as this for any version ever manufactured. Today’s modern versions all come from the Alexandrian mss, except for a handful of literal translations from the TR. This is why there is such a difference between versions and why the agenda of the modern versions has succeeded in changing the written Word of God.
You are probably asking yourself, what does this have to do with my statement of belief?
If one has God’s preserved Word, one will know who his or her God and Savior is, who Jesus Christ is, and who the Holy Spirit is. They will know how one is saved, how to live life, what happens after death, and what their future is, as God has revealed it to us. The Bible is about Jesus Christ. The OT shows us man’s rebellious nature and sinful ways, but promises a Savior to reconcile us to God that sin has separated us from. The NT is the story of God’s grace, mercy, and love in the conception, birth, life, ministry, suffering, crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension of His Son, Jesus Christ, God manifested in the flesh, come to be the Propitiation for Sin, once and for all. He has given us His Holy Spirit to indwell and seals us for all eternity. Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God, slain before the foundation of the world. He is the Lion of the Tribe of Judah and will return as He left – the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords who will rule and reign forever.
I firmly believe that by reading my articles and postings, my belief system will be quite apparent. However; if you have a specific question, ask me. I am an open book
